Snam, a European leader in the construction and integrated management of natural gas infrastructure, is the owner of Europe’s largest, most accessible pipeline network (32,455 km), one of the largest storage infrastructure in the EU (16.5 bcm capacity) and the first LNG terminal built in Italy.

Snam’s investments aim to support the development of Italian infrastructure and their interconnection with the European infrastructure, strengthening the security, flexibility and liquidity of the overall gas system.

With its 3,000 people, Snam is active in natural gas transportation, storage and regasification. It operates, through associated companies, in Austria (TAG, GCA), France (TIGF), United Kingdom (Interconnector UK) and is shareholder of TAP.

Nord Stream 2 AG is a project company established for planning, construction and subsequent operation of the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline. The company is based in Zug, Switzerland and is currently owned equally by Gazprom Gerosgaz Holdings B.V., the Netherlands, an affiliate of PJSC Gazprom, and PJSC Gazprom. An ownership structure of equal EU and Russian interests in the project is envisaged, which reflects the significance of this new infrastructure for Europe’s future energy supply needs. The project company is supported by Uniper SE and BASF SE/Wintershall Holding GmbH (Germany), the Royal Dutch Shell plc (UK and the Netherlands), OMV AG (Austria) and Engie S.A. (France). The combined experience of these energy companies ensures the best technology, safety and corporate governance for this project, which aims to provide a secure energy supply for Europe. Nord Stream 2’s shareholders and supporters have a great deal of experience in the business of extracting natural gas, building transport networks and bringing gas reliably and safely to the markets where it is required.

GRTgaz owns and operates the natural gas transmission network that covers most of France. With more than 32,300km of pipelines, the GRTgaz network is the longest in Europe and one of the most interconnected. GRTgaz invested 624 million euros in 2015 to transmit natural gas under the best possible conditions of safety and fluidity, develop the network and its interconnections, optimise its operation and reinforce the security of supply in France and in Europe.

The energy transition is underway: the transmission network is a key vehicle for it. Open today to Biomethane, a 100% renewable gas produced naturally, tomorrow it will enable increased use of the gas transmitted, or storage and transmission of excess solar or wind electricity in the form of hydrogen or synthetic methane.

GRTgaz employs almost 3,000 men and women motivated by the same ambition: making sure that our gas transmission network and out skills serve the safe, competitive and environmentally friendly energy solutions of the future.
