ThermoLift is developing the patented TCHP™ natural gas-powered air conditioner and cold-climate heat pump. It combines heating, cooling, and hot water delivery into a single appliance utilizing a proven thermodynamic cycle to improve system efficiency. This results in a 30-50% reduction in building heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) costs, as well as associated reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
The TCHP system achieves high heating efficiency by capturing renewable heat energy from the outside environment, even at low ambient temperatures (<0°F). While cooling, TCHP™ uses the captured heat from inside a building to produce hot water, providing essentially free hot water during summer months.
Other advantages include: small physical size, few moving parts for superior system reliability, and the elimination of harmful refrigerants (hydrochlorofluorocarbon, hydrofluorocarbons). In addition, it will exploit a seasonally underutilized energy resource (natural gas) and reduce the load on an already overburdened electrical grid in cooling season.
